Nexbib enables digital access with Hublet tablets
Making digital content available on tablets in libraries is a modern way to increase accessibility to digital resources for everyone in the community. Providing visitors with the ability to borrow tablets independently from a self-service Hublet dock, creates new freedoms for both visitors and staff. Making digital content available on tablets in libraries is not only contemporary, but also promotes digital participation for the entire community. If users can even borrow tablets independently from a self-service Hublet dock, new freedoms are created for visitors and staff. Following its digital strategy and library-related diversification of its range of solutions, Nexbib is now including the Hublet self-service tablets in its portfolio. Libraries in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden can now obtain Hublet from their local Nexbib partner.
"Digitisation creates new opportunities for democratic participation. With Hublet, libraries can expand their digital offerings to target groups, teach media literacy in a modern way and simplify access to education”, explains Sven Carlson, Managing Director at Nexbib Switzerland.
In the past, Hublet was developed together with the Helsinki City Libraries and therefore perfectly meets the specific needs of libraries. In the meantime, more than 800 libraries globally are using Hublet. Hospitals, museums, senior-citizens homes and restaurants are also successfully offering it to their visitors. "The potential of the Hublet solution is enormous. Our partnership with the internationally renowned company Hublet is promising and makes us very happy", says Sven Carlson.
"Nexbib is known for its dynamic and customer-focused approach to delivering high-quality library services and Hublet is excited to partner with them. As we share a passion for exceptional customer service and innovative solutions, we believe that our partnership will assist libraries in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland in bringing more value to the library community in this digital era", comments Jukka Salonen, Director Sales and Distribution at Hublet.
Hublet tablets are, at their core, conventional Android tablets with an intuitive operation that the community is already familiar with. Through a variety of mobile applications (apps), users can read, learn, work, stream videos or play games together at their favourite place in the library.
Visitors borrow the tablets themselves with their library card or via a QR code at the Hublet dock. In the Hublet dock, the Hublet tablets are not only secured but also automatically charged. In compliance with data protection regulations, the usage history is deleted when the tablet is returned to the dock. The devices are centrally managed via the Hublet Manager and age-, location- or group-specific app views are configured. Integration into the library system enables a secure and efficient workflow. There is no need for manual issue of tablets or dedicated app maintenance, so no significant staff resources are tied up.
In line with its strategy of providing everything from a single source, Nexbib offers a suitable solution for social participation in digital services with Hublet, the library app (Nex.App) and the self-service locker for laptops (Nex.Locker LapSafe), depending on specific needs and focus.
